The eagerly-awaited running order for the 2023 bed race has been announced. Martin Brock, Bed Race Chairman from Knaresborough Lions commented: “As always, working out which teams start where is a combination of entry form information, looking at previous performances, hunting through Strava, parkrun and local race results and occasionally, the odd bit of guesswork.”
Following requests from previous participants, the Lions are planning to use chip timing for this year’s race for the first time which will help with concerns from teams in previous years about delays encountered at the river entry.
Martin added: “We are fully subscribed as always. Eagle-eyed readers may note that race numbers go up to 96 but there are only 93 teams on the list. We aim to have a maximum of 90 teams for the race but with just over that number of applicants, we let all in knowing that we always have a few dropouts though injury. That has happened this year and we wish those teams a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing them back for 2024.
This year’s bed race takes place on Saturday June 10th. A full programme of events is available at www.bedrace.co.uk with the main events being a fancy dress parade on the theme of ‘That’s Entertainment’ from 1pm and the race itself starting at 3pm.
