'Heroes and Villains' to star at Bed Race 2017

The 2017 Great Knaresborough Bed Race entry period opens 1 January 2017 with downloadable entry forms available from early January on this website. This year's theme for the bed decorations and fancy dress will be 'Heroes and Villains' in homage to the many versions of both who have left their mark on the event over the years.

The Race will be held on Saturday 10 June 2017, the second Saturday in the month as always, with a maximum field of 90 teams expected to take part. Thousands come to watch what is one of the largest community events to be held in the north of England.

This is the 52nd staging of the Bed Race in Knaresborough. The event is organised by the voluntary group, the Knaresborough Lions, with proceeds going to charity and local good causes. It is great family day out, offering up an hilarious fancy dress parade and a gruelling athletics contest over a 2.4 mile course through the town and up the gorge, finishing with a swim across the River Nidd.
